The wait is finally over for fans of Bollywood’s most iconic duo as the Bhooth Bangla trends globally. Reuniting superstar Akshay Kumar with master director Priyadarshan after 16 long years, this horror-comedy isn’t just a movie; it’s an emotional homecoming for audiences who grew up on the genius of Bhool Bhulaiyaa. As paid previews kicked off on April 16, 2026, the early buzz suggests that the king of comedy has officially reclaimed his crown in a genre he helped define.

The story of Bhooth Bangla centers on Arjun Acharya (Akshay Kumar), a London-based man who returns to his ancestral home in the mysterious town of Mangalpur to host his sister’s wedding. However, the grand “Acharya Niwas” hides a sinister secret: the legend of Vadhusur, a demonic entity said to snatch away brides before they can say their vows. What follows is a chaotic, hair-raising journey where Arjun and a quirky team of wedding planners, led by the incomparable Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav, must confront the supernatural while keeping the wedding guests—and the audience—in splits.

In this Bhooth Bangla, the spotlight shines brightly on the performances. Akshay Kumar is in vintage form, effortlessly pivoting from slapstick physical comedy to moments of genuine terror. His chemistry with Rajpal Yadav feels as fresh as it did two decades ago, providing the film’s funniest sequences. The addition of Tabu and Wamiqa Gabbi adds significant emotional weight, with Tabu delivering a haunting performance that anchors the film’s more serious second half. Critics are particularly praising the 164-minute runtime for its balanced pacing, even if the VFX occasionally feels like a nostalgic throwback.

Visually, Priyadarshan utilizes the sprawling, eerie mansion to create a sense of claustrophobia that contrasts perfectly with the loud, vibrant wedding festivities. While some suggest the “Vadhusur” backstory hits familiar tropes, the sheer energy of the ensemble cast makes it easy to overlook. The film has already secured a UA 16+ rating, making it a perfect, high-octane family entertainer for the 2026 summer season.

Final verdict? Our Bhooth Bangla confirms that the film delivers exactly what it promised: a high-voltage mix of “dar and fun.” Whether you’re there for the jump scares or the legendary comic timing of the trio, this haunted house is one you definitely want to enter.
