Make Me Tingle Recap: Yeon Su’s Family Rules, a Blind Date With Go Dal and the Night She Demands Protection
The drama opens with Yeon Su running late to a family memorial service. Her mother, Baek Hee, scolds her, and Yeon Su says she was working. Baek Hee snaps that these services are not held every day, and Yeon Su shoots back that she knows, they happen 22 times a year. Her aunt Mi Young adds dryly that two have already passed. A flashback shows how the family sees girls. Her grandfather tells a young Yeon Su that a girl has one job: marry, have children and look after them. She is also expected to help her younger brother, Nam Su, get through his civil service exam.
Back in the present, her grandmother slips her a note with the details of a blind date, the son of a distant friend. She reminds Yeon Su that she is almost 30 and should settle down. Yeon Su agrees, but when her grandmother asks whether she is seeing anyone, she says no. At her advertising agency, she tells her friend Se Ra what her family said. Se Ra asks why she hasn’t told them about her boyfriend, and Yeon Su admits she wants to marry but has doubts about him. She is seeing him today, and Se Ra tells her to wear something new.
Yeon Su meets her boyfriend, Seung Joon, in her new outfit, hoping he will notice. He doesn’t. She tells him her grandmother wants her married soon and asks if he would marry her. He says he does want to, but there is something he has been meaning to ask. Every time he tries to get close, she pulls back. He wants to be with the woman he loves, and he wants to know she loves him, but she has never let him near. Does she love him at all?
Meanwhile, the male lead, Go Dal, is at home with a visiting woman who asks whether his big house feels empty. She spots his handmade toys and he offers her one, as long as she gives feedback. His friend and business partner Ji O calls to complain that he is doing all the work on their new product alone and asks why Go Dal never comes to the office.
Yeon Su tells Se Ra about the conversation and asks if there is a way to test love without sex. Se Ra says maybe, but everyone thinks differently. When Se Ra says the word “sex” out loud, Yeon Su begs her to be quiet, and Se Ra gets louder. She then drags Yeon Su into a shop full of adult toys. Se Ra points out that Yeon Su once said where the heart goes, the body follows, so what is the problem? Yeon Su explains that Seung Joon wants this before marriage and her family forbids it. She has been taught that since childhood. Then Go Dal and Ji O walk in to inspect their product. Yeon Su watches the two of them and decides they must be a couple, then bolts.
At home, Seung Joon calls to apologize. Yeon Su says it’s fine, she can do what he wanted, and this time she won’t hesitate. He suggests meeting at a hotel the next day. She tells herself she has gone crazy, then notices Mi Young smoking outside. She stops her and asks whether she isn’t scared of their grandmother. Mi Young shrugs. She is already divorced, so what could be worse?
Next, Se Ra sends Yeon Su for a massage. When the masseuse prepares to undress her completely, Yeon Su stops her. The masseuse says Se Ra requested it and the payment is non-refundable, so Yeon Su gives in and gets a proper massage. At dinner that night, she tells her family she will be late. She blames work, then admits she has a blind date, which makes her grandmother very happy.
At the hotel, Yeon Su spots both leads again and assumes one of them is her date. It’s Go Dal, who notices her and sits down across from her, asking whether she has eaten. She hasn’t, and when he starts ordering, she suggests they eat elsewhere since the food will take a while. At a simple restaurant she explains that her grandmother arranged this, she doesn’t want it, and she will tell her grandmother she didn’t like him. He should say the same. Then she asks why he never looks anyone in the eye. He says he doesn’t unless he is interested. As she leaves, she tells him that eye contact shows whether someone is polite.
That night, Se Ra calls her a lucky girl for having a blind date and a boyfriend in one evening. Go Dal, driving home, spots Yeon Su crossing the road and watches her. Upstairs at the hotel, Seung Joon goes to shower, and Yeon Su finds a condom and puts it by the bed. When they start getting intimate, she keeps looking at it and asks him to use it. He says to forget it, it will only hurt. She says it’s about protection. He gets annoyed, reminding her she said she wouldn’t hesitate. If she loved him, he says, she wouldn’t care. He insists he is doing this for her so she won’t feel pain. She holds firm that it is about protection and respect, and he walks out without a word.
Yeon Su starts drinking. At a nearby bar, Go Dal is with friends, promoting his condom product. Yeon Su leaves the hotel very drunk, muttering that he abandoned her and she doesn’t even know where she is. Out on the street she finds condoms scattered on the pavement and begins gleefully picking them up. Go Dal steps out to retrieve his box and recognizes her. He asks if she is drunk and tells her to stop because they are his. She apologizes and asks whether condoms really only cause pain. He says she told him it was about protection and respect. She says he is right, she told her boyfriend the same thing, but he wouldn’t listen. When Go Dal asks if she has a boyfriend, she says no, she was about to marry him. Then she tells him, “You’re finally looking me in the eye.” He calls the police, who take her in.
She wakes up at the station, apologizes and leaves. She sneaks home and catches Nam Su secretly brewing alcohol, then realizes her wallet is gone. Baek Hee catches her and asks where she’s been, since her phone was off. Yeon Su says it died. As she tries to go inside, her grandfather appears. She freezes, but he only eyes her bag and clothes and asks if she is off to work, since it’s morning. She nods and escapes.
She finds Mi Young and they drink together. Mi Young guesses it’s about a boyfriend. She was the same once, she says. She and her husband loved each other deeply, but she couldn’t marry him, and when she got divorced she was happy. To get anything, you have to go completely crazy.
Back in her room, Yeon Su has sent Seung Joon message after message with no reply, and just as she types another, he texts to break up. The next day at the agency, Se Ra announces a new client and shows the product: adult toys. Yeon Su remembers her aunt’s words and says she wants the job. Se Ra takes her upstairs to meet the owner, and it’s Go Dal. Se Ra tells him Yeon Su will lead the project.
Make Me Tingle Recap: Yeon Su Becomes Go Dal’s Employee, the Vibrating Bag Scandal and the Love Hotel Fight
Go Dal tells Ji O that Yeon Su can’t run this project and they can find another firm. Ji O asks what is wrong with her. Go Dal admits he went on a blind date with her, and Ji O teases that he never used to care about blind dates. Yeon Su tells Se Ra she already knows Go Dal and doubts he wants her, but Se Ra tells her to go see him anyway.
At the meeting, Go Dal asks her straight out whether she has ever used adult toys. She says no. Will she in the future? She can’t answer. He says he knew she would be biased and he doesn’t want to work with her. As she leaves, she says something that makes him think twice. At home, she tells Mi Young what she did, that she went crazy like her aunt said, and asks what happens if things go wrong. Mi Young pushes her to keep going.
The next day, Go Dal introduces her to the staff and Ji O offers a tour. At the cafe he asks her to bring coffee on time but guesses she has no money. He then hands over her wallet, which was lying outside, and she is thrilled. He takes her to the testing room where employees try the products, explaining that it’s part of the job. She refuses. Outside, he hands her a toy and says this is what she will work on.
On the metro, the toy is in her bag. A woman accidentally brushes it and it starts vibrating while everyone stares. At home, another memorial service begins, with everyone’s bags lined up in front. Nam Su touches Yeon Su’s bag and it starts vibrating in front of the whole family. She panics and yanks the bag away, the toy hits her grandfather and falls. Mi Young shouts that she told Yeon Su not to touch her things, because it’s hers. Asked what it is, she says it’s for massage. Her grandfather orders her to leave and asks how she dared do this during a memorial. She says she’s divorced and has nowhere to go. Outside, Yeon Su overhears and remembers how her aunt was once happy with her family before the divorce.
The family believes Nam Su is studying, but he is actually watching videos of a dancer named Si Eun. When someone brings him food, he hides the screen. Upstairs, Yeon Su looks at a bracelet, probably a gift from Seung Joon, and puts it on.
At the office, the team hits a problem and nobody knows what to do. Yeon Su suggests sending random boxes to people who are excited about romance, and they will buy them. Go Dal says they must interview couples first. At the team dinner, colleagues talk openly about toys and press Yeon Su for her opinion. She slips to the restroom and searches online, until Go Dal catches her. She admits she doesn’t know much, so she is learning. As she leaves, her heel breaks and he catches her. The drunk colleagues are sent home by taxi, and Go Dal tells her to wear comfortable shoes tomorrow because they are going somewhere.
The next day she shows up in comfortable shoes and finds Go Dal with Ji O, the two of them very close. Go Dal says they are going to check products. Yeon Su tells them to go together, but Ji O asks why they would. She asks Go Dal on the road how long they’ve known each other and how long this has been going on. He doesn’t understand the question. He explains he met Ji O at a certain age and they began working together.
They meet the woman who sells his products, then visit a toy factory where Yeon Su watches him win over employees. Then they arrive at a love hotel. Yeon Su asks what they are doing there, and he says, “It’s a love hotel. Why do you think?” Inside she spots a vending machine full of adult toys while Go Dal talks to the owner. A couple asks if she wants to buy anything, and she steps aside.
Outside, she sees a woman hitting her boyfriend and steps in, saying it’s dating violence and asking the man whether she should call the police. The woman keeps dragging him inside and Yeon Su grabs her bag, spilling its contents. Go Dal arrives, apologizes to the girl and the couple goes in. Yeon Su apologizes too but says she has never seen anything like this and can’t call it love. Go Dal says people love in different ways. Their job is to satisfy customers, not to look into their relationships. When she argues, he asks why she is so narrow-minded and says she knows nothing. He tells her to come home, but she refuses and walks away.
Walking, she remembers getting her first period and her mother telling her nobody must know. Mi Young calls but Yeon Su’s phone is dead. On the dark road she sees drunk men ahead and gets scared. She also notices a car following her, and someone gets out. It’s the woman from earlier, who says she saw Yeon Su alone with no lights beyond the love hotel and offers a ride. In the car, Yeon Su admires the decorations. The woman says they’re perfectly legal, her daughter made them. She once gave her daughter condoms for her birthday after seeing her with her boyfriend, wanting her to stay safe.
At home, Yeon Su drops her bracelet. Seung Joon, drunk, picks it up and says he came to check whether she really loves him. He apologizes for last time and suggests a fresh start. When he grabs her, she pulls away. He says last time she wanted a condom and he refused, but this time he will use one. She tells him he is drunk and to leave. He won’t listen, and as he raises his hand, Go Dal catches it.

Make Me Tingle Recap: Go Dal Meets Yeon Su’s Family, a Kiss in the Rain and the Gay Misunderstanding Begins
Seung Joon asks who Go Dal is, and whether he is her new boyfriend, since they broke up barely a week ago. Yeon Su says it isn’t like that and tells him to go. He tries to fight Go Dal but can’t do anything, and finally leaves when Yeon Su orders him to.
She asks Go Dal whether only men think about spending the night together. He says it matters to women too. She feels he is siding with Seung Joon and tells him to go. As he leaves, she sprains her ankle. He helps her home and they find her whole family waiting.
They bring him inside and grill him about his family and job. He says he makes toys, and when he starts to explain who they are for, Yeon Su stops him. He says children. Baek Hee gives him food, which he stores in the fridge for later. Mi Young asks Yeon Su who he is, and she admits he owns a sex toy company.
At work, Go Dal pitches the new product to another company, and they don’t like it. Then at a team meeting, he and Yeon Su disagree and the argument begins. That night, Yeon Su has dinner with Se Ra, and Go Dal is nearby with friends who tell him the company is going nowhere and he should join his father’s business. He asks them whether they never get intimate or masturbate, and they have no reply. He steps outside, sees Yeon Su, who has overheard everything, and she leaves. He follows and offers her a ride, asking whether she heard. She shouldn’t worry about him, he says, he hears this kind of thing all the time.
In heavy traffic, he drives her to another spot. Yeon Su says she knows nothing about sex and he has never loved anyone. He says that’s not true, he just never chose love. She says she hates rain but loves alcohol. He asks whether the world would end if she drank in the rain and slept with him. She says it will never happen. They are different people and he can’t do anything. He asks how she can say that, and what if he does? She says he can’t, and she isn’t running. As she turns to go, he catches her hand, says he’s going to do it, and reminds her she said she wouldn’t run. Then he kisses her.
At home, Yeon Su watches intimate videos until Mi Young walks in. She shrieks and slams the laptop shut. Mi Young says it’s the second time since college and asks what happened, but Yeon Su won’t say. That evening she looks at the toy and wants to try it but can’t. The kiss replays and she can’t sleep. At the office cafe the next day, she is still replaying it when Go Dal and Ji O walk in. Ji O asks what coffee she wants, maybe a “kiss cotton,” and she looks at Go Dal, remembers everything and runs inside.
At the next meeting they argue about the product again, and he calls her to his office to talk about ending her contract. She protests: “What did I do? You kissed me first.” He says he actually wants to change her contract. Until now she has handled a few products, and now she can handle the whole brand. That evening Ji O asks whether he spoke to her, and Go Dal says she will review it. Ji O starts calling Yeon Su cute.
Yeon Su tells Mi Young that Go Dal came to the house that day because Seung Joon showed up after they had already broken up, and then Go Dal arrived. Honestly, the two of them kissed. Mi Young is curious how it happened, but Yeon Su won’t say. When pressed, she says nothing can happen between them because he is gay.
At home, Go Dal gets a text from his father asking to meet. He ignores it and looks at Yeon Su’s photo. Yeon Su uses the toy, but only for a massage. Baek Hee, holding a coat in a shop, thinks she sees Nam Su and tells her mother, who says it can’t be, he is always studying. In truth, Nam Su is watching Si Eun dance, and afterward they become intimate. Finally, the company employees visit an exhibition. Yeon Su sees Go Dal and Ji O together, tells herself not to disturb them and tries to slip away, but they spot her.
Make Me Tingle Recap: Yeon Su Asks Go Dal on a Date, the Candle Fight and the Blackout That Changes Everything
Back at the office, everyone works, and at dinner Yeon Su sees the two together again. She doesn’t want to play third wheel, says she has work and leaves. It starts to rain, and Go Dal arrives with an umbrella. They shelter together and he brings up the contract. She asks whether that is why he came. He asks what she wants to talk about. She asks why he kissed her that day. “Because I wanted to,” he says. She says fine, then there is something she wants to do. She kisses him, pulls back and starts crying. Why is he doing this to her? She says he is gay, she has seen him with Ji O many times. He says no, Ji O is just a friend, and he likes girls. She runs off.
At home, Go Dal tells Ji O they have to stay apart for a while. Ji O asks why, and Go Dal says it’s because Yeon Su thinks he’s gay. The next day Yeon Su opens a red product box and finds it lacks the one thing she wants: a candle. She argues with Go Dal, he refuses and the fight restarts. She tells Mi Young what a man he is, he didn’t even add the candle. Mi Young notes that she has been talking about him for days and has realized he isn’t gay. Yeon Su insists she doesn’t care either way. At the family table, Baek Hee tells her to bring Go Dal for a meal. She says she will take him to a restaurant instead, but her grandfather insists he be invited here.
The candle argument continues the next day, and Ji O takes Yeon Su to a restaurant. Later, building maintenance begins and the lights go out. Go Dal is terrified. He senses someone approaching and thinks it’s a ghost, but it’s Yeon Su, back for her bag. She lights a candle and asks if he is afraid of the dark. He denies it and says he doesn’t need comforting, it makes him uncomfortable. She tells him about the day she came to hate rain. She was locked outside and screamed for her parents, but the rain drowned out her voice. It hurt, but not anymore.
Her story pulls him into a memory of his own. As a child, he eats alone, the lights go out and he calls for his parents, but no one comes. Later he visits his parents’ house, where his twin sister is also present. His father says he is still running that company and wants him to join the family firm as soon as possible. Go Dal refuses. The company is his and he will run it to the end. He leaves, remembering that he once lived in that house and no one ever noticed him.
At work, Yeon Su finds the candle has been added and is thrilled. On the rooftop she thanks Go Dal and asks whether he adds chicken to things, naming a few foods. He declines. Ji O arrives with food for her while Go Dal watches. She tells Go Dal she needs to go somewhere, and they go to a restaurant. He asks why she asked him. She explains what her family wants but says he doesn’t have to do it. He says fine, he will, but they need a plan so the family doesn’t invite him again.
Elsewhere, Nam Su tries to call Si Eun, but she doesn’t answer because she is in the bathroom, where she realizes she is pregnant. At Yeon Su’s house the family waits for Go Dal. Outside, she tells him they’ll go in after fifteen minutes. Inside, they ask whether the food suits him. He says anything is fine, Yeon Su looks at him, and then he says that isn’t true and lists what he can’t eat. The family recalls that he makes toys they could use too. Yeon Su reveals they are sex toys for adults, and Go Dal adds more, hoping the family will reject him.
Outside, he tells her everything is solved. They don’t need to meet again, they’ll only see each other at the office. He turns to leave. Yeon Su says to herself that this man keeps raising her heart rate. She goes after him and asks whether he would go on a date with her. The story ends there, with the next installment due on Friday.
Make Me Tingle Review: Is This Bold Korean Romance Worth Watching?
Yes, the first four episodes earn a recommendation. The show’s best trait is how seriously it treats Yeon Su’s silence. Her family never gave her words for her body, and the drama lets that cost her something real. The condom scene is funny but holds firm on consent.
Go Dal is slower to land. His “everyone loves differently” speech sits badly beside a scene of actual violence, and I hope the writers revisit it. The blackout and rain scenes help a lot. Giving both leads a childhood fear tied to being unheard makes the kiss and the final question feel earned.
The gay misunderstanding is the shakiest device. It is a familiar rom-com trick, but it resolves quickly. Mi Young is the heart of the show, and Nam Su and Si Eun give the side plot real stakes now that Si Eun is pregnant.
Verdict: A funny, warm and thoughtful romantic comedy with a strong lead and a few uneven choices.
Rating: 8/10
